  • What are the requirements?

    • To begin, you need:
      • To have been in business and operating for at least one (1) year,
      • Proof of Business Location (must be headquartered  within the Air Trade Area (Michigan Counties: Genesee, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne), and
      • 5 years signed Income Tax Returns or average number of employees in the preceding completed 12 calendar months (where applicable) that do not exceed the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Size Standards.

  • Is SBE the same as DBE?

    No, the WCAA Small Business Enterprise (SBE) program is not the same as our Disadvantaged Business Programs.  For more information about those programs click Here.

  • I need to look for a SBE partner (Prime or Subcontractor), can you help?

  • What is a NAICS code?

    A North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is a numeric code that classifies businesses by industry: The federal government uses NAICS codes to collect, analyze, and publish statistical data about the U.S. economy. They are also used for administrative, regulatory, contracting, and taxation purposes. NAICS codes are 2 to 6 digits long. The digits indicate the company's sector, subsector, industry group, industry, and national industry. Businesses can use NAICS codes to understand their customers and differentiate themselves from competitors, Apply for loans, Identify relevant tax incentives.  NAICS codes are not the same as Employer Identification Numbers (EINs), which are assigned by the IRS. 

  • Where can I find my NAICS codes?

    NAICS codes can be located using the Census Bureau site. Click here for more info. You can also locate your NAICS codes on your tax documents (ex., Form 1040 Profit & Loss, Schedule C, Box B).
