Nursing Rooms open at Detroit Metropolitan Airport
DETROIT (Nov. 14, 2018) – Mothers now have a private place to nurse while at Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW). Since June, nine nursing rooms have opened on the airport’s grounds in the North Terminal, the McNamara Terminal and the Michael Berry Administration Building. The nursing rooms are equipped with a comfortable chair, a sink, counter, electrical outlets and other amenities.
“At Detroit Metropolitan Airport, we strive to make traveling a positive experience for our customers,” said Wayne County Airport Authority Interim CEO Chad Newton. “For years, we have wanted to provide nursing mothers with a private and secure place to care for their children. The challenge was finding the space. After an extensive reconstruction project in both terminals and our administration building, our nursing rooms are finally open.”
To ensure privacy, mothers who wish to utilize a nursing room will need to use their cell phones to call for an access code to enter the room.
In the McNamara Terminal, travelers can find four of the rooms in concourse A (near gates A15, A25, A53 and A63) and one located near gate C2 on the lower level. In the North Terminal, nursing rooms can be found across from gates D8, D15 and D24. The nursing room in the Michael Berry Administration Building is provided for WCAA employees.
Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) welcomed nearly 35 million passengers in 2017 and is one of the world’s leading air transportation hubs.
